AT&T National Extended at Congressional
The vote was the other night and, according to an insider at the club, the vote was basically 51/49 in favor of extending the deal.
The AT&T National will once again return to Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md. , for an additional three years after members voted to bring the successful tournament back to the Blue Course. The voting results were jointly announced by Greg McLaughlin , president of the Tiger Woods Foundation and Bret Hart , president of Congressional Country Club. The new term for the PGA TOUR event runs from 2012-2014 with an additional three year option for 2015-2017.
Also, look for the date of the event to change sometime after the Open in 2011.

very cool
I love Congressional.
What happened to moving back to TPC Avenel ? They did all that redesign work with the understanding that they would be playing there when they were complete. (granted – they should’ve started by carpet bombing the old layout and starting all over) :-)

I think
They’re going to move the Senior Players Championship there after the deal with Baltimore Country Club ends. Just seems too logical.
hmm
are we SURE they can’t just carpet bomb the place ? maybe put up rental properties ? :-)

haha
I don’t like Avenel as I knew it, but I have yet to see it in new form.

just pictures
I’ve only seen overhead pictures of the changes. I was kidding about carpet bombing the place (D would probably accuse me of being a war monger) – but the changes look pretty decent. They had a LOT of work to do on that place – it was a mess from day one.
Too bad we can’t get rid of TPC Sugarloaf as it is now. It’s a big subdivision course that is almost 8 1/2 miles around because of the distances from green to tees in a number of places. The houses got all the good land and Greg Norman got the leftovers.

war monger?
Probably not. I’d define a war monger as someone who thought war was a great idea as long as someone else’s kids were fighting it. Carpet bombing a bad golf course to make way for a better one doesn’t qualify.
