Good Luck, Butch, Part II
John Daly withdrew from the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic (his 12th WD in two years) Saturday with what he told PGA Tour officials was "a rib injury."
However, according to a Jan. 20 article in the Los Angeles Times, Mr. Long John also:
- Attended two tournament parties Friday night, including an afterparty.
- Paired up with Alice Cooper to sing "Knockin' on Heaven's Door."
- Told a local reporter to ignore his drinking.
AND ...
- Was helped out of the afterparty party by an "unidentified man."
None of which means Daly didn't really have a rib injury - he could be seen wincing on swings during the second round. Perhaps he was trying to drink away the pain. (Perhaps that's what he's been doing his whole life ... whoa ... that was deep!)

serious question, though
In his book, "The Pro", Butch talks about his own battle with the bottle, along with one of his brothers and his father (later in life).
Butch has experience in the area, and I doubt he would ever turn his back on Daly as a human being, but will he keep putting out the effort to rebuild Daly's golf game ?
