The FedEx Cup Race Is Over

Of course, there were many people who believed before the Tour Championship started that the FedEx Cup points race was over - that nobody would be able to deny Tiger Woods.

But I think we can officially write it off at this point. Tiger Woods is the winner of the FedEx Cup.

At the Tour Championship today, Woods finished an opening-round 64, then followed it up with a second-round 63. He leads the tournament by three:

Tiger Woods, 64-63--127
Woody Austin, 65-65--130
Tim Clark, 62-69--131
Mark Calcavecchia, 65-66--131
Adam Scott, 65-66--131

The two guys who had, coming into the Tour Championship, realistic chances at denying Tiger the FedEx Cup ... well, their chances no longer seem realistic:

Phil Mickelson, 68-66--134
Steve Stricker, 69-67--136

Mickelson has to win the Tour Championship while Woods finishes lower than solo second in order to win the FedEx Cup title. Stricker just needs to win this tournament. Mickelson is seven shots behind Tiger, Stricker is nine strokes back.

It's over.

Think they might want to make the Fedex Cup Playoffs a little harder after Tiger's score this weekend.
