New Titleist Drivers: 907D1 and 907D2
The new Titleist drivers that have been seen in the hands of Titleist's tour staff for many months are coming soon to a retail outlet near you. And for $500, either hte 907D1 or 907D2 can be yours as of April 1.
Titleist's quick-hit description of each:
- 907D1: High Moment of Inertia for Long Distance with Forgiveness
- 907D2: Enhanced Moment of Inertia for Long Distance with Playability
In other words, if you want to retain the ability to work the ball - to create fades and draws on demand - then the 907D2 is the driver for you (and most of the tour staff has gone with this version). If you don't care so much about working the ball and just want distance and forgiveness, then the 907D1 is your choice of these two drivers.
Here are the descriptions from Titleist, slightly more in-depth:
High Moment of Inertia design provides for long distance with increased forgiveness on off-center hits.
- 460cc Maximum Triangular Geometry: Triangular geometry is more efficient and achieves maximum USGA and R&A limit geometry. Increased MOI heel-toe and high-low for exceptional forgiveness and increased distance on off-center impacts.
- Large Maximum Ball Speed Area: Large maximum ball speed area for increased ball speed across the face.
- Multi-Material Design: Constructed with a lightweight 6061 T6 milled aluminum hosel, high speed SP700 beta titanium alloy face insert and precision cast 6-4 titanium body.
- Tapered Face Insert: Tapered thickness face insert is thinner at the top to promote high launch and low spin for optimum launch conditions and maximum ball speed.
- Low Mass Crown and Hosel: Low mass crown and hosel optimize the mass distribution to lower the CG for solid feel and better energy transfer. Sculpted sides increase the sole stiffness for more efficient energy transfer.
- Symmetric Face Design: Symmetric face design increases the face area and, combined with improved scorelines and the square face angle, provides confidence at address.
- Aesthetics: Gloss black paint finish with textured side skirt and "foggy mirror" polished sole provide outstanding cosmetics.
- Lofts/Stock Shafts: Available in lofts of 7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5 in right hand and 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5 in left hand. Standard shaft length is 45". Stock shafts include the Graphite Design YS-6+ (64g), Titleist Spec Grid 67 (67g) and Aldila VS Proto 65 (69g). Stock grip is the Titleist Tour Velvet Rubber Round grip with the logo under. A comprehensive list of additional shafts and grips are available through Titleist Custom Clubs.
TITLEIST 907D2: ENHANCED MOI for DISTANCE WITH WORKABILITY
Increased moment of inertia design provides for long distance with shot control.
- Advanced Geometry: 460cc advanced traditional geometry driver with enhanced moment-of-inerta for increased distance with workability and shot control.
- Multi-Material Design: Multi-material design with a lightweight 6061 T6 hosel, high speed titanium alloy face insert and precision cast body.
- Tapered Face Insert: Tapered Face Insert is thinner at the top to promote high launch and lower spin for optimum launch conditions and maximum ball speed.
- Low Mass Crown and Hosel: Low Mass Crown and Hosel optimize the weight distribution and lower the CG for solid feel and better energy transfer.
- Symmetric Face: Symmetric face profile with visually improved scorelines and crown shape provide great looks in the playing position.
- Aesthetics: Gloss black paint finish, textured side skirt and "foggy mirror" polished sole provide outstanding cosmetics.
- Lofts/Stock Shafts: Available in lofts of 7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5 in right hand and 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5 in left hand. Standard shaft length is 45". Stock shafts include the Graphite Design YS-6+ (64g), Titleist Spec Grid 67 (67g), Aldila VS Proto 65 (69g) and UST ProForce V2 75 (76g). Stock grip is the Titleist Tour Velvet Rubber Round grip with the logo under. A comprehensive list of additional shafts and grips are available through Titleist Custom Clubs.
The clubs begin shipping on April 1 with an MSRP of $500.
