Greg Norman Talks About Tiger Evert
Well, sort of. What Greg Norman really did was compare Tiger Woods to his main squeeze, Chris Evert. Maybe he has a little crush on Tiger?
Norman and Evert were a rumored couple for a while before they started stepping out together. And Tiger reminds Norman of Evert (no, not in that way):
Former world number one Greg Norman has compared Tiger Woods's domination of world golf to the long period of success enjoyed by tennis great Chris Evert in the 1970s and 1980s.
"In golf he's got tremendous concentration, dedication to improve every week and you have to admire and respect him for that," the Australian told Reuters after finishing his Dubai Classic campaign with a six-over 78 for a two-over 290 total.
"But if you look at other sports, somebody who has got a better performance record than any of them is Chris Evert. In tennis she has got a strike rate in majors of around 90 percent.
"There are other athletes that have done a little bit better but he (Woods) is phenomenal in golf."
If we carry this analogy forward, there would soon appear on the golf scene someone in the role of Martina Navratilova to rip the No. 1 ranking away from Woods/Evert, and start beating her on an almost continuous basis. Ain't gonna happen.
