Coming out of hibernation...

Hola amigos!  I realize that my postings on waggleroom are about as consistent as the whims of Tila Tequila- and for this, I apologize.

The final weeks of the quarter have been a long respite from golf...I have yet to touch the clubs in two and a half weeks, in part due to scrambling for finals and in part due to an attack of viral meningitis, which I am still getting over. I am currently in Westwood, yes for the first week of my winter break I am still at UCLA taking my finals a week late-courtesy of a note from the UCLA Emergency Medical Center.

My 21st birthday was a blast, to say the least, a John Mayer Concert surprise (thanks to Maria Jose) was accompanied by a pre-birthday dinner with Jane Park (who, by the way turned 21 on the 15th)...unfortunately, the rest of the evening was spent in the fetal position taking painkillers. (Gracias, Meningitis).

Anyways, I hope to give you all better updates come the New Year.  Happy Holidays! Ho Ho Joh!

P.S. If anyone else is in the same predicament as me, and is trying to procrastinate during the Holidays, elfyourself.com is a fantastic site which enables you to cut out faces of you and your friends and paste them onto dancing elves.  It is a hoot!

P.P.S. I would do the fantasy golf thing, if I could.  According to Coach, I would be violating some NCAA rule...petty, I know.

Viral meningitis ... THAT should be against NCAA rules! Hope you are all better now. Are your offseason tournament plans affected?

NCAA regs..
...only look for violations that concern money and swag.  Can't blame your coach for covering his hind quarters, though.  The NCAA book is as ridiculous as the IRS Tax code book.  (my brother quit as tennis coach for a college in South Carolina because he got tired of living under NCAA tyrany)  You can play fantasy sports as long as there is nothing more than fun on the line.

'tis the season indeed
forget dust in the wind--we're just vectors for microorganisms, especially this season, it seems.  get better soon and good luck on finals.

oh, and tell your coach to check out my dad's talk at the NCAA meeting in Nashville this winter.  he's the philosopher on the panel on academics and athletics (and a former D III golf coach)....

If You're Allowed To Play Fantasy Golf...
For those who enjoy fantasy golf (and are allowed to play), the league I joined is currently looking for more participants.  This is a brand new game for 2008 and it looks like a lot of fun:
