Fujikawa Slips from A's to B's, Mom Doesn't Care

I like Tadd Fujikawa's mother. Her son's grades have slipped, but she's not worried:

"I'm always on his case," she said. "He's doing OK. Maybe he's not a straight-A student anymore, but B's are fine."

That's right: B's are just fine, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, Tadd.

The Honolulu Advertiser's update on the professional golf journey of 16-year-old Fujikawa includes the news of his grades slipping, explaining:

Fujikawa keeps up on his classes online when he's on his trips.

"My teachers are really supportive. Without their help I don't think I could play," he said.

Hey, that's one area where Michelle Wie is still ahead of Tadd: Her grades never slipped.

Speaking of Wie, you'll recall that she withdrew (or perhaps was forced out) of the Casio World Open coming up on the Japan Tour. Not to worry - the Casio folks have snagged Fujikawa:

And so it'll be Fujikawa, not Wie, at the Casio World Open. He hasn't commanded the kind of appearance money that Wie received. But it's more than ample to take care of the airfare, accommodations and other expenses ...

In his first season as a pro, and in-between balancing classes (he still attends high school in Hawaii when he's home), Fujikawa has been all around the world this year. The Advertiser charts his travels: three trips to Japan (counting the coming Casio), one to Canada, one to Florida, two to Nevada, one to Idaho, one to Georgia and one to Switzerland.

No wonder his grades have slipped.

I'm with you...

If I were Tadd Fujikawa, or his parent, I would have no problems with the B's - especially with his humble, fun loving character that ALSO enjoys putting in the work it takes to be an excellent golfer - oh, not to mention an ability to speak English.
