Duval, Tway Using Career Money Exemptions
I wrote about John Daly's woes in 2006 yesterday. But Daly isn't the only big name or notable veteran who lost his fully exempt status due to a poor 2006. David Duval (pictured) and Bob Tway are in the same boat.
Duval finished 172nd and Tway 175th on the 2006 PGA Tour money list. However, each of them has an exemption to fall back on - the career money list exemption.
Golfers have a one-time exemption they can use for being in the Top 25 on the career money list, and another one for being in the Top 50. Duval is using his Top 25 exemption to play a full schedule in 2007, and Tway will use his Top 50 exemption.
Duval has a good chance at remaining inside the Top 50 on the career list, no matter how bad his 2007 season is. So if he needs to again next year, he should have the Top 50 exemption to fall back on.
I don't think he'll need it, however. Duval seems to me ready to get back into the mix.
